Activities have been designed to promote fun, hands-on learning about plants, people and the environment. Parents are encouraged to book early – spots will sell out!
Prices range from FREE to $30 plus a small booking fee from Eventbrite, with running times between 1-1½ hours. Some activities are tailored for specific age groups – check carefully whether your child is suited to each activity. All children must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver at all times, only purchase ticket for the child.

Join local Illustrator, Lauren for a fun drawing session about Bugs, Insects and Creepy Crawlies! Learn about their anatomy and behaviour, which bugs are good for the garden and which bugs are considered pests and explore the Kitchen Garden.

Create cute critters to take home using curious botanical bits. Combine leaves, sticks and googly eyes to bring your imagined creature to life! Due to use of hot glue gun during workshop, parents/carers must work with their children at all times; children under 6 years cannot be admitted into the activity.

Join Indigenous story teller, educator and guide Trent, on an hour walk through the Australian Forest, investigating the traditional uses of trees and plants by Aboriginal people and relating seasonal movements to the surroundings.

Storyteller, Janet Leitch, will share folk tales and legends from around the world. The captivating tales she shares will lead you on imaginative journeys over mountains, through forests and jungles, and introduce you to the wonderful animals and characters that people these stories.
Making Fire, Making Glue (1 hour) FREE, no bookings required [at Adelaide Botanic Garden]
Learn how Aboriginal people make fire using just what is around them in the Australian bush. How they make glue from plants! Meet on the Schomburgk Pavilion unless it’s raining, in which case it will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building, Hackney Road, Adelaide Botanic Gardens.
