Find your best party shirt, pencil in your favourite acts and prepare your tired liver for a few too many pre show champas because the 2018 Adelaide Fringe Festival is upon us!

Adelaide Fringe maintains its crown as Australia’s largest arts festival with today’s release of an astonishing 1223 events in its official 2018 program. This basically means that whether you’re a comedy enthusiast, small child, hopeless romantic, cabaret fan or cynical old codger with dark humour, there’s something for you and everyone!

Around 6000 artists will present a broad range of works across genres including 338 comedy shows, 260 music events, 132 theatre productions, 128 cabaret shows, 98 children’s events, 73 visual arts and design exhibitions, 64 special events, 36 circus/physical theatre events, 33 dance shows, 26 interactive events, 22 magic shows and 13 film and digital events – all lighting up South Australia for another electrifying year.

Of the 442 venues hosting festival attractions, the National Wine CentrePlant 4 Bowden and Percy Court Studio are among the 144 newcomers set to discover the magic of hosting Fringe events.

A variety of Fringe ‘hubs’ will span across suburban and regional Adelaide – from Gawler to the Fleurieu Peninsula and Mount Gambier to Whyalla, while Kangaroo Island has also jumped on board for the first time.

GooseChase: The Mall Mini-Hunt

For the young and young at heart! Grandparents, parents, carers, children and anyone up for some fun can get a taste of the GooseChase scavenger hunt before the major game begins at this special school holidays event in Rundle Mall on Friday, January 12, from 10am to 2.30pm. Prizes including tickets to some of the hottest Fringe shows will be up for grabs so meet under the Gawler Place canopy get involved.

Eco Faeries Live

Long before Marvel and DC, the faeries have been the guardians of nature. With mud between their toes and a sparkle of mischief in their eyes, there won’t be a damsel in distress in sight. Follow the music to the Eco Faeries un-faerie-gettable show, the Original Superheroes! Suitable for families with children aged 2-8 years. High energy, interactive musical theatre performance. Eco Faeries are coming to Adelaide Fringe for the first time in 2018. After three seasons of sell-out performances at Perth Fringe. There will be silly faerie antics, bum wriggling music, two faeries and a smelly pixie!

Through acrobatics and physicality, the solidity of three giant blocks of jelly will be tested as they are squished, sliced, jiggled and dropped from great heights until they are destroyed. Grandma is busting out! Join this warm and hilarious rule breaker as she journeys through imaginative worlds to try and finally answer the question: “What do I want to be when I grow up?”
Nikki Britton is an award-winning comedian, actor and playwright. She has been delighting children around Australia with ‘Grandma’ for more than six years and has been a favourite on the ABC’s Stand and Deliver series. Nikki trained at L’ecole Philippe Gaulier as a clown and has been touring nationwide for the past five years with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase Tours.
