Discover, Play, Bikeway!
The Amy Gillett Bikeway will for the first time come alive with a free family event “Discover, Play, Bikeway!” this Sunday, 21 February, as part of Festival of the Hills – a free weekend of events by Adelaide Hills Council.
Part of the Adelaide Fringe, “Discover, Play, Bikeway!” follows the fully booked out Opening Night Party in Stirling on Friday evening and Strum & Stroll on Saturday in Lobethal.
The free Sunday event will see an array of pop-up food, music, art, and performances come together to entertain children and families along the 15-kilometre bikeway.
Visitors can plan their day around one or more of four main hubs along the Bikeway. These include Mount Torrens Oval where Tennis SA will host the ‘Rally as One’ Bushfire Recovery event with a Kids Colour Run, Hot Shot tennis coaching, live music, stalls and raffles supporting the CFS and Scouts SA.
At Charleston Park, visitors can enjoy dance and theatre, live music and market stalls, while at Woody Trails BMX in Woodside, there will market stalls, food and drink and lots of activity on the BMX track.
You can hire a bike from Bike About at Gillman Reserve in Oakbank to start your journey and enjoy a bite to eat and some entertainment before setting off.
Barristers Block have live music on the lawn and $5 tasting while you can also enjoy special offers from Melba’s Chocolates, Murdoch Hill and Lobethal Road Winery.
