These school holidays Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park invite you to explore animal secrets and surprises – from clever camouflage, dynamic displays and fabulous finery – nature has it all!

Visit over  January for a curiosity quest like no other and celebrate the wild wonders awaiting with Nature’s Blend or Bling.

Create a short story or poem featuring the Blend or Bling characteristics of any of the animals at Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Safari Park and stand a chance to win a special book pack and prize valued at over $200. You can write about Adelaide Zoo’s unique Rhinoceros Iguanas and their grey-brown skin colouring which helps them blend into the stone or the beautiful manes of Monarto Safari Park’s majestic Lions, shaggy and soft to intimidate enemies and impress their prospective mates.

Cleland Wildlife Park School Holidays Program

Sick of hearing “I’m bored” these school holidays? Rediscover Cleland Wildlife Park this summer, with everything from vacation care to up close encounters with the resident butterflies. There’s even a mystery poo mission!

Activity 1: Wildification

Cleland’s popular summer vacation care program Wildification is back for the summer school holidays!

This summer your kids can learn about animal tracks, do scavenger hunts and crafts, participate in games and make lots of new friends. There will be exclusive keeper presentations too.

There are only 15 places per day, so book now.

You can book your child for more than one day, however, be aware that some of the experiences will be repeated, such as animal encounters and craft projects.

Activity 2: Self-guided adventure trail map (free with entry)

Going to Cleland? Pick up the trail map at the entry and go an adventure with your kids to discover animal tracks and the poo they leave behind.

See if you can solve the mystery poo mission and find out who belongs to the mystery track.

Activity 3: Mini beasts of Cleland

Your kids will learn about the invertebrates at Cleland Wildlife Park and have close encounters with a variety of stick insects and butterflies

This activity includes the Invertebrate Keeper taking your kids on a tour, starting in the Oceans to Outback building and ending in the butterfly enclosure.

Cost: $20

Dates: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from Tuesday 15 December 2020 – Friday 22 January 2021

Time:1.30pm – 2.00pm and 2.30pm – 3.00pm

HOLDEN HEROES EXHIBITION NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM

ALL JANUARY

The History Trust of South Australia’s National Motor Museum is proud to present some of Holden’s finest and most important machines, never before seen under one roof!

Holden Heroes: 1948 to 2017 a retrospective is a showcase of 18 of the most special vehicles from Holden’s Heritage Collection on display at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood, South Australia.

On display will be the amazing Hurricane (1969); the unique Torana GTR-X (1970) and the fantastic and brave design of the EFIJY (2005) . There is also the Number One Holden (1948) and the very last Australian made Holden, a VF Commodore Series II SS Redline (2017) as well as the significant ‘millionth’ vehicles produced by Holden.

DINO WORLD ADELAIDE

8 – 17 JANUARY

Featuring life-size, robotic, animatronic dinosaurs and specimens, visitors will experience the Jurassic tour, meet several life size dinosaurs species, like the T-riffic T-Rex and the unsTOPpable Triceratops in natural surrounds. The exhibition features fossil display, dinosaur toy shop, family dinosaur related activities play area and its ideal for family outing, school group visit and kids parties.

BLITZ GOLF ADELAIDE 

10 JANUARY

Adelaide is about to get Blitzed, with Blitz Golf bringing its fast-paced and family-friendly tournament back to Glenelg Golf Course this summer.

Coming up on January 10 2021, Blitz Golf is an afternoon designed for all-ages entertainment and fun, where everyone is invited including families, sports lovers and event goers.

The event is free for under 18s and will feature live music, DJs, food trucks, pop-up bars, Kidz Zones, activities, giveaways, and competitions across the day, plus opportunities to meet and chat to players in-between rounds.

The main event features an energetic, ten-hole golf tournament with 32 players, including golfing greats, rising stars and local celebrities, and there’s absolutely no boundaries with both men and women rivalling one another.

Project One Putt will run a junior putting clinic on the day, where kids will have a chance to learn putting skills from the pro golfers participating in the tournament. There will also be Blitz Golf player cards handed out to children who can look to collect a full set of the cards.

Everyone is invited to come along and watch their favourite local celebs (including AFL players and other sporting stars) battle it out against the golfing pros!

Tickets are $10 per adult, available at the gate on the day. Tickets will also be available via the Blitz Golf website for those who want to purchase a ticket in advance.

See Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad as you’ve never seen them before… Join The Heelers in their first live theatre show created just for you with puppetry, live actors and iconic Australian sets. It’s a little bit different and a little bit beautiful.

Bluey’s Big Play is an original story written by Bluey’s creator Joe Brumm with new music created by Brisbane’s Beethoven and Bluey composer, Joff Bush. This is an experience you can only take home with you in your memory so please remember to bring that along with your tickets.\

SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITY OPEN TO ALL CHILDREN WHO WANT TO BE CHALLENGED.

This free event is for all children between 4 and 11 years old to enjoy with a parent or guardian.

Sessions will be held at St Raphael’s School in Parkside on 19th January 2021 and will be facilitated by our Specialist Numeracy/ STEM Leader.

Children and their parents will be invited to ‘Flex their thinking’ as they solve problems and find solutions to STEM challenges using robotics, engineering and construction.
