The Pontoon is back and better than ever! After a bit of Instagram banter from @adelaidepontoon we were beginning to worry that Adelaide’s beloved lonely Pontoon might remain neglected forever. Thanks to Adelaide Pontoon Corporation spokesperson Martin Palmer, The Pontoon on the Torrens Riverbank in Elder Park will yet again come alive for its inaugural, free Summer Series.
The Pontoon Summer Series – The Hills are Alive
Following the recent success of Adelaide Pontoon Corporation’s first activation, the ‘Backyard Cricket Pontoon’, it will now play host to ‘The Summer Series’. A perfect place for an evening drink or film for those lucky enough to score a midweek date-night.
Adelaide Pontoon Corporation spokesperson Martin Palmer said: “One thing’s for sure, there won’t be a dull moment on the Riverbank over January. The line-up is set to excite with something for everyone and entry is free.”
Opening from Wednesday, January 3 rd until Sunday, February 4th it will showcase a variety of entertainment. Each night will play host to a different theme.
Mr Palmer said: “We have curated a sensational line up of entertainment and food and wine experiences and our key focus is about keeping it local to SA; presenting the best our State has to offer.”
The Summer Series will be presenting cult Australian movies on a Tuesday evening, Live & Local Acoustic on Wednesday nights, Cool Jazz Hot Nights on Thursday nights and Fridays and Saturdays will feature ‘The Hills Are Alive’. Different wineries from the Adelaide Hills will showcase their wine and produce.
Mr Palmer said: “We are drawn to unique experiences and that is exactly what we want to offer locals and holiday makers in our CBD.
“There is a natural pull for people to water and the Riverbank is no exception.”
Adelaide’s best musicians will perform some fabulous sets on the Pontoon for the Summer Series, including acoustic singer, Georgia Germein from the Germein Sisters and Dusty Lee from The Wanders. On the Jazz stage, The Pontoon will showcase Sally Cameron and Katia Labozzetta. The DJ line up is also impressive and includes Audioporn and James Curd to mention a few.
The Pontoon will be hive of fun with tasting food offerings available and a fabulous bar, stocked with best South Australia has to offer.
The menu channels slow-cooked BBQ, soul food including melt in the mouth brisket, BBQ chicken and tasty burgers as well as grazing boards to share.
The all-weather venue spans 450 square meters with inside and outside dining and is licensed for 450 people.
With giant screens and the addition of bathrooms on the Pontoon, as well as a cool summer themed fit out, The Pontoon’s Summer Series is going to be fun.
Mr Palmer said: “We encourage people to visit our website and facebook page to check out the nightly theme, the performing artists and DJs and Adelaide Hills presenting winery, distillery and brewer.”
