Run by SA mum Kristy, Little Sunshine Kids came to life in 2019 not long after the birth of her second son Alby (now 2 years old). But the seed was well and truly planted all the way back in 2017 when she was pregnant with her first son, Lenny (now 3 years old). As Kristy began planning life with a baby in the house she realised lots of the more readily available baby and children’s products were so focused on convenience, that a huge ‘throw away’ industry had been created, which was having such a detrimental impact on the planet our little people are due to inherit!
Imagination, Creativity, Problem Solving
Kristy was a mum on a mission and began researching more sustainable ways to raise a family, as well as age appropriate toys for Lenny to play with and explore. She soon found this was also an area filled with cheap, throw away plastic items that are readily available, but not really very beneficial to our children, let alone kind to our planet!
After researching for hours what types of toys and resources aided in developing gross and fine motor skills, imagination, creativity and problem solving skills but also wouldn’t end up in landfill for hundreds of years, Kristy stumbled into the world of wooden toys and hasn’t looked back, creating Little Sunshine Kids as a beautiful collection of childrens’ brands and products that foster curiosity and wonder.
