9 – 12 MARCH 2018

WOMADelaide is a 4 day Arts on and culture festival, which regularly attracts around 20,000 people per day, (not including children 12 and under who are admitted free) with over a third of attendees coming from interstate and overseas. WOMADelaide programming features up to 500 artists from around 30 countries and over 100 international food, retail, charity stalls and bars. Set in the magnificent inner city Botanic Park, the action across seven outdoor stages comprises performances, workshop activities, site performance and visual arts programs.

DON’T MISS

Gratte Ciel

As night falls each day at WOMADelaide, the skies above Botanic Park will be transformed by Gratte Ciel’s breathtaking ‘Place des Anges’ (Place of Angles) in a magical aerial ballet that will sure to be a hit with both parents and kids alike. This is a fabulous music spectacular with acrobatic scenes and aerial theatrics that has left audiences in sheer awe. Feathers will trickle down from the sky as the ethereal and irreverent angel friends descend to the audience below.

BIG PEOPLE

Manganiyar Seduction

Roysten Abel, whose intimate work The Manganiyar Classroom charmed WOMADelaide audiences this year, will return for WOMADelaide 2018 with a visually and musically stunning masterpiece The Manganiyar Seduction.

This extraordinary work is like nothing you will have seen before, with 43 musicians seated and gradually revealed in a purpose built ‘jewel box’ like staging to create a dramatic and astounding build-up of instruments and voice. Spanning 3 generations of Manganiyars, a caste of musicians from the heart of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, this exuberant and joyful performance is a celebration of life itself.

Ackroyd and Harvey

Heather Ackroyd & Dan Harvey are visual artists internationally renowned for creating installations that draw together the disciplines of sculpture, photography, ecology and biology into artworks that grow and decay over time. Working in a variety of media, their artworks investigate memory and time, man-made climate change and biodiversity loss. The artists will bring to life a series of large-scale photographic portraits taken in 2017 of WOMADelaide festival-goers to create an ethereal gallery.

Architects of Air

The Architects of Air team returns to WOMADelaide after three years, with a new inflated luminarium to explore and (hopefully) lose yourself in. Arboria is an immersive installation where you can wander through treelike structures which give rise to Gothic architectural references, experience the sounds of an Ecuadorian cloud forest and melt into an ever changing landscape of light and colour.

Jamface by Poh

Join friends and family for a sumptuous meal surrounded by the sights, sounds and colours of WOMADelaide!

Poh is thrilled to again be relocating her Jamface lunch and dinner service to Botanic Park for WOMADelaide 2018! As the chef in residence at this year’s Taste The World Restaurant, Poh will be serving up a brand new feast of dishes inspired by childhood memories of Malaysia. For $60 each, guests will be served a six-dish banquet including dessert. You can also stop past the accompanying Blue Lantern Bar to enjoy a well earned drink and delicious bar snacks made to order.

Planet Talks

Join some of the world’s great minds, such as Rove McManus at WOMADelaide’s Planet Talks in a series of fascinating live conversations about our environment and sustainable relationship with the planet. Set under the stunning tree lined canopy of Botanic Park’s aptly named ‘Speakers’ Corner’, the Planet Talks is a unique ideas festival within the festival
